Through a university connection with the charity Brainstrust, a opportunity arose for a small group of photographers to work with the charity for their website make over.

By volunteering to work with this charity it allowed me to expand on my photographic ability and communication/people skills. I do not usually photograph fashion, however I pushed myself out of my comfort zone to try something new. Applying the standard techniques I use for studio portraiture I created my set, consisting of two poly boards (either side of the model), two background lights for a flat clean white background, one fill light and one key light on the model. Then as I knew I had many different clothing pieces to photograph I chose to keep my camera on a tripod, so that when the images are viewed on the website the model is in the framed the same. Altering the way in which the model posed, direction they faced and facial expressions gave variety to the different clothings. Therefore, all of the images I shot for this commission would work cohesively together, as well as work as stand alone images.
